Apparently, a certain airplane company will be charging extra if passengers want to ensure that they sit together on the plane. Different rates are charged based on different factors. For example, a long distance flight will costs more etc. The plus point is you get to secure the seat a few days in advance. Previously, it was free but you can only do it 1 day in advance.
These days, people do almost anything that they can think off to try and recover the loss that has happened. In the above situation, it's a new business plan for the company, where the company hopes it will reduce the loss. However, the passengers dread over it. At first, they are glad that they can sit together. But when they realise they have to pay extra, they'll definitely think twice, or thrice, or even more. In the passengers point of view, it's like as if a vampire is sucking blood from them. So, yet again the question of it being rational or not arises.
So, save money or seat? You decide...
