Just Gets Better

Another day and it will be the end of 1st week. So far, it has been great. Partly or shall i say mainly because there is not much classes. Plus, i dont have classes on Monday. Which is so GOOD!!!. Haha...

Yesterday, my friends and I watched Avatar. We left the LRT around 6.10pm for KLCC. After collecting tickets, we ate at Chilli's. 6 in total included Jac & ahem...=) Most of the time, the other four of us talked among ourselves. Haha...

After that, it was movie time. 8.30pm. The show was 2 and 1/2 hour. It was great. The CGI especially. The land that the Avatar lived in was so nicely created. Two thumbs up. =) By the time I reached my room, it was past 12am. After doing some stuff, it was time to sleep. The good news is my class only starts at 1pm the next day.

Fun...Yet Boring

Today was the first day of semester. It was fun yet boring. Only 2 out of 6 classes were on today. Coz the other 4 were tutorials. And NO tutorials on week 1. =) Unfortunately, that meant i had to wait literally (no exaggeration) 6 hours straight. The 4 tutorials were in between the 2 lectures. First lecture 9-10am. 2nd lecture 4-6pm.

So, basically, I :-

1. Chatted with friends.
2. Went computer lab.
3. Register lab experiments (That alone took me 2 hours).
4. Had lunch.
5. Attended friend's lecture since nothing to do.
6. Sleep.

But, the last class knocked off before 5.30pm since it was the first class.

Fast forward time...Had dinner. Video called my sister. That was so cool. It was my 1st time by the way. Went online. Downloading notes. Got to sleep early. Class at 8am tomorrow.

All in all, it was a great and blessed day. Can't wait for tomorrow to unfold. Amen!

Start Of Something New

Soon, and i mean literally, SOON, I'll be entering my 2nd year of degree. It will be a start of something new. The 3 and 1/2 months semester break seems like it has ended as soon as it began. A part of me still wants the sem break to continue. Simply because life is very smooth sailing. No need to race against time for assignments, tests, quizes, presentation, lab reports. And the list continues. But the other part of me is excited that it is a new beginning even as i enter the 2nd year.

Later today, I'll leave for KL. So, let the adventure begin...NOW!!!

P/S: Mum's cooking is still the best. There's no place like home =) And, hopefully MU will gain back their winning streak...haha...

Morphine Is Good...Isn't It?

Soldiers who quickly received a shot of morphine after being wounded were less likely to develop post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD ~ US researchers

This is the latest study done by the US researchers. Morphine is a drug that is used to relieve severe pain and suffering in clinical medicine. However, it is able to cause an addiction. Those who use it will be physically and psychologically more dependent on the drug.

The latest research is still in the early stages. Thus, they cannot be fully ascertain of the current findings. PTSD is one of the anxiety disorders where people will have on-going fear and paranoia for no clear reason. This may lead to conditions like nightmares which may eventually affect their mental, physical and health states.

In their research, 70% of the 696 injured troops were given morphine within 1 hour. After 2 years, it was found that 61% of them who developed PTSD received morphine. As for those who did not develop PTSD, 76% were given morphine.

It seems that the severity of the injury does not contribute to PTSD. Other speculations are:-

1. the faster the treatment for the pain, the better the outcome
2. morphine acts on how the brain forms memories of the stressful events

Ultimately, further and an in-depth research has to be done until a firm conclusion can be made. Even if the morphine really helps, the disadvantages of the drug may still out-weight the benefits.

The Imaginarium Of Dr Parnassus...& Ti Ne Tan

Last wednesday, we went to Queensbay. Thanks to Christine Tan aka Ti Ne Tan, Jocelyn and Nadia could not make it. Reason being Ti Ne Tan planned it LAST MIN!!! Yes, LAST MIN. You read it correctly. So, come on, scold her. Muahahaha...

Anyway, our initial plan was to have dinner and catch a movie. =) By the way, the nicely planned outing was done by yours truly. And it worked. So, once we reached, we went straight to GSC and booked the...ahem...i finally remembered...

Ladies & Gentlemen, we watched...no no no, chronogically speaking, we bought tickets of The Imaginarium Of Dr Parnassus. Yes, Ti Ne Tan, i finally did it. I know, I know. It was a remarkable feat. =) So after that, we went to Foto President to develop some pictures for ME.

Then, came the most anticipated moment of the day. Dinner Time!!! Again, the million dollar question awaited us. APA LU MAU MAKAN UNTUK MAKAN MALAM? After much effort and consideration, we finally decided to go to Secret Recipe.

While waiting for our food to arrive, this was what happened:-

A long time ago, in the Northern part of the Peninsular Malaysia, there was an island called Penang. And in that island, unknown to many homo sapiens, there was yet another island called The Rat's Island aka Pulau Tikus. And in that island, there was an Avatar called Ti Ne Tan. Like the cartoon Avatar: The Last Airbender, she was the Camerabender. One day, Ti Ne Tan set out to the ends of the earth. Hence, the name At World's Ends Meet aka Queensbay. There she met a homo sapien called Simin. (That's me =) )

Though she was from the tribe of Camerabender, she knew next to nothing of taking pictures. Look how shaky her hand was went taking pictures? As a brillian homo sapien, Simin came out with a few conclusions on why she could not take such good pictures like Simin.

1. No skill...yet
2. No skill...yet
3. No skill...yet
4. Hungry
5. Excited and nervous as it was her first time to At World's Ends Meet

So, the friendly and kind Simin taught the young...(Not so young actually...hehe...) Camerabender how to get a good shot.

1. Tak tau ambil gambar tak apa, tapi gaya mesti ada aka ACT professional
2. Learn from Simin aka The Pro

After teaching the Camerabender, Simin took a rest. It was very tiring to teach the Camerabender. =)

Next, we posed for some pictures. At the same time, Simin taught the Camerabender how to take close-up pictures with the photographer in it.

This was my dinner. The Camerabender copied my order for dinner as she was too excited that she mastered the art of taking pictures.

After dinner & discovering the place, we watched The Imaginarium Of Dr Parnassus. Evidence that we did not secretly enter the cinema.

Further evidence that we were in the cinema though it was forbidden. Since the Camerabender was with me, she showed her skills to the GSC staff. With much amazement and fear at her skills, they gladly let us in with the camera. Coz she basically unleashed the most feared weapon...The STARE!!!

Finally, we headed home. As the Camerabender, she had no license in the homo sapiens world. So, Simin fetched the not so young Avatar back home. As you can see, the Camerabender is showing off her skill, taking picture for the both of us.

In conclusion, Simin would like to congratulate the Camerabender for masterinf the skill...finally!!! =)

Simple Yet Meaningful

On Jan 3, 2010, my friend, Elgene gave me this present. A key chain. Hand-made. First of all, here's my acceptance speech:-

Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to start of with a huge thank you for giving me such lovely and touching gift. In fact, it coincides with the bright sunny day. It looks especially great with the sky as its backdrop...ok ok...scrape that!!!

Basically, a big thank you to Elgene for the present. You have great patience in completing it. I, for one, do not have such patience. Secondly, I do not have the skill and interest to make them. If I were you, I would end up giving you "3 buku benang" coz they will look nicer than my "kraf tangan". Haha.

Thank you for being a real friend...You and your family =)

In conclusion, it's simple yet meaningful. God bless you.
